New Shoes!!

Bryson proudly displaying his new K Sw*ss shoes! He measured a size 5 1/2 on his left foot and a 6 1/2 on his right. Now mind you the braces extend his toes by 3/4 inch. He probably really is a 4 1/2 and a 5 1/2 at best!! We had our choices from the "walker" selection.

Shoe salesman Steve

This is what happens when you take a teenage sister shopping with you!

"Come on Marissa, just look at my new shoes!" Marissa's reply, "I really don't care. They are not PINK!"

"But this dress is not only pink, it has sparkles, would twirl really well and would look really good on me! Please mom!!!"

We did some other shopping as his shorts keep falling off now that he doesn't have any casts. Sad day when you have to buy a 5 year old size 18 months shorts and really should have bought 12 months but the mommy in me said I just couldn't do it; 18 months sounded not so bad! I can't even find underwear that fit his buns and keeps all his parts inside without exposing when he is sitting down.

Bryson is still not bearing weight on his legs. The PT and OT worked with him on Thursday. They both are awesome in addressing all the little issues with Bryson. He is not able to sit up straight. We thought this was due to his casts, but it is due to his hips. He also leans to his right side when sitting. And his left side is definitely more affected than his right. Anyhow, they are working their magic figuring different wedges and supports to put in place so he can get stronger.

It is just one step at a time!!

This is truly a monumental day in Bryson's life--to be able to wear shoes! Putting on shoes is something we do without thinking. We take it for granted, but for someone like Bryson it's awesome! What a happy grin! I've got a happy grin, too!

NO she didn't get it! We were at Nordst*m's for the shoes since they fit shoes for braces and will let you buy two different sizes.

She is just as happy with a dress from Targ*t. She got two hot pink shorts and two pink shirts to match from Pennys.

He must just be thrilled to have his very own pair of shoes! We're keeping Bryson in our prayers. God's hands will help him to bear weight when he is ready. :]

Well I have to say that just made my day! I just know how excited our little guy gets everytime he gets a new pair of shoes, and he truely treasures them. There is just something about a new pair of shoes that seem to make you feel like you have super powers or something. Remember when you were a kid and the first thing you wanted to do when you got that new pair of shoes on was RUN, cuz you just knew that that new pair of shoes could make you run SO FAST! I will be praying that he wears that tread out quickly.

Our family continues to lift up bryson before the throne of grace -- knowing God will complete the good work He has begun in Bryson's life. My prayer is that he will go "leaping and singing and praising God". Oh how awesome that would be, eh?!

Much love,

How cute he is with his new shoes, and his shades on. He has so much personality, it just shines through in the pictures. And even the girls went! What a great way to spend the day.

Hi from Germany,

great braces and new shoes!

Your blog is very intersting!

My son, Fabian, age 10, is wheelchair bound since he fell from a tree two years ago.

It was a very hard time for all of us after Fabians accident. The moment when the doctor told us, that Fabian is paralyzed and the moment when we must told him that he never walk again, was so terrible. Especially terrible was the day, when Fabian got his first wheelchair. I still cry when I saw him sitting in his wheelchair at the first time.

But Fabian is so brave! I am so proud of him.

Since his accident Fabian visits a school for special needs kids. All other kids in his class are disabled, too. The most kids must use a wheelchair, tree kids can walk with a walker / quad canes.

Every Saturday Fabian visits a sport group for children in wheelchairs. Two hours they play together in their wheelchairs. It is so funny for the kids.

Two month ago he got a new “Spidermann”-wheelchair. If you are interest I will send you a photo of him in his new wheelchair.

Best wishes Katja
