Day Two of the Big Surgery

After a very hard and long night, morning and afternoon they finally found the best combination to manage his pain around 4 pm today. Before that his longest stretch was 45 minutes of no crying and screaming.

He is resting much better. His swelling is still significant but with cast cut and as the day has gone on it has subsided some. He remains in the PICU. He is now running a fever of 101.6 and his heart rate has been high (150's)all day long. They'll take blood in am to see what's going on in that whooping 38 pounds of lovin'!

Working hard to just stay present and not worrying about each day ahead. We should know Monday if we think he is able to make trek home next Wednesday.

We had an awesome proactive day nurse today that fell in love with my boy. She was not scheduled to work tomorrow but picked up the 12 hour shift so he could have the consistency. Thankful for that!

Hopeful I can hop in the parent showers here tomorrow knowing that his pain is better managed
while Lorna sits with him.

Again thankful for all prayers and support. Wish I had the time to contact each of you right now, but not an easy task on a smartphone in the PICU with a little boy who needs all my attention right now so a blog post must suffice!

Prayerful for pain control to continue, fever to go away, no need for blood transfusion, and heart rate to lower on it's own.
