Surgery Update

This is from my phone so bear with me. Bryson's surgery went well. They did the femur relocations, tibia relocation, soft tissue releases on each femur and for the fun of it the dr decided to lengthen his Achilles tendons again since his heels are so tight. he had a team of four doctors and six nurses! Everyone commented on the amount of work that was being done today.

All was well for 45 minutes post op when the epidural quit working, he started screaming and his thigh was swelling very fast.no pain meds were working. He screamed for two hours. They called the doctor on call to come in.

They had to sedate him in the PICU and split the top of his right cast to relieve the pressure. He is currently under that sedation still along with many other drugs trying to manage all of this.Did I mention I watched his oxygen stats drop so quickly the ICU dr started doing sternum rubs on him? Fun times!

I could not imagine getting through all this without Lorna who remained calm yet in control and asked the questions and got things going. If I only get Lorna for today, her trip here was worth it for me. Luckily she feels needed here and has agreed to stay on!

This sedation should wear off in two hours. Please pray they have the right pain meds now on board to keep him better managed. He also lost a lot of blood and may need a blood transfusion. Dr is wanting to see if his body can replenish itself prior to just giving him one now.

On a good note, his feet and legs ate straight. They look normal even in the casts minus the hideous amount of swelling. I can't wait to post a photo. Hint hint Jean!

Not proofing too hard on phone, need to take advantage of sedation and rest!
Than you so much to everyone who has texted, emailed and called. Unable to acknowledge or respond right now but know you encourage my heart and my boy!
